A couple years back I was taking a creative writing class, and we had to write a short story for our final. I ended up writing a story about the prehistoric giant shark known as megalodon. It’s written in a diary/journal format from the perspective of Kyle Roberts, a marine life enthusiast who gets an opportunity to work with National Geographic on a story about life in the Arctic.
Here’s a link to the story if you want to read it.

Bull sharks are one of the most fascinating and dangerous sharks. The fact that they can survive in both salt and fresh water makes them a double threat. They have been known to turn up in rivers in the United States. Sightings have been reported in the Mississippi river all the way up to St. Louis. Although more rare, there have been spottings of bull sharks in the Illinois river and Lake Michigan.
Most recently researchers were doing studies on bull sharks in the Breede river in Africa, and ended up discovering the largest bull shark ever documented. This shark measured 6m or 19 ft, and 550 – 600 kg (1212 – 1322 lbs.) The previous record went to a bull shark that was 3.5 m.
